O volume Thy Kingdom Come, de 1891, ensinava que Deus havia preparado a Grande Pirâmide de Gizé como um instrumento 'for convincing the world of his wisdom, foreknowledge and grace', descrevia o testemunho da construção como inspirado, dizendo que ele seria 'as much disputed as that of the Scriptures', e encerrava o capítulo respondendo àqueles que 'scoff at the testimony of this stone “Witness,” as they also scoff at God’s written Word'.

A posição da organização ou explicação posterior: A Sentinela de 1.º de janeiro de 2000 chama isso de ‘a false idea’ que ‘the watchman class’ sustentou ‘for some decades’, e diz que Jeová ‘needed no stone monument built by pagan pharaohs’.

Millennial Dawn / Studies in the Scriptures, vol. 3 — Thy Kingdom Come, “Chapter X — The Testimony of God's Stone Witness and Prophet, the Great Pyramid in Egypt”

1891 · p.311 · C. T. Russell · Tower Publishing Co.

“he has already prepared the Great Pyramid as a part of his instrumentality for convincing the world of his wisdom, foreknowledge and grace”

The sentence states that God himself prepared the building. The surrounding paragraphs say its witness is ‘chiefly intended for the world of mankind during the Millennial age’ and treat it as corroborative evidence additional to the written Scriptures.

Millennial Dawn / Studies in the Scriptures, vol. 3 — Thy Kingdom Come, “Chapter X — The Testimony of God's Stone Witness and Prophet, the Great Pyramid in Egypt”

1891 · p.313 · C. T. Russell · Tower Publishing Co.

“We thus introduce this “Witness” because the inspiration of its testimony will doubtless be as much disputed as that of the Scriptures, by the prince of darkness, the god of this world, and those whom he blinds to the truth.”

The preceding sentence says the structure is ‘repeatedly referred to in the Scriptures’ and that its testimony will ‘honor Jehovah, and fully correspond with his written Word’. The building's testimony is described as inspired, and disputing it is attributed to the devil.

Notes. This bears directly on the 1928 reversal, which reached the opposite conclusion: that reliance on the pyramid was itself a device of Satan.

“a divine wisdom which must have been worked out under the supervision of some inspired servant of God”

The chapter argues that the design shows knowledge the Egyptians could not have had, and reports the resulting conjecture that Melchizedek was the builder, while adding ‘Of this we can know little’.

Notes. The 1928 articles answered this directly, arguing that Egypt was no place for divine revelation.

Millennial Dawn / Studies in the Scriptures, vol. 3 — Thy Kingdom Come, “Chapter X — The Testimony of God's Stone Witness and Prophet, the Great Pyramid in Egypt”

1891 · pp.371-372 · C. T. Russell · Tower Publishing Co.

“Some may scoff at the testimony of this stone “Witness,” as they also scoff at God's written Word, but to their scoffs we answer: Account for this peculiar fitness of things, or else venture to prophesy of the future … Prove to us that it requires no inspiration to foretell future events.”

The closing argument of the chapter places the building's testimony alongside the Bible's and treats rejection of the one as of a piece with rejection of the other.

Nota de confiança. Pages 371 and 372 opened and read in this session; wording confirmed. The 1891 typesetting uses a 'ct' ligature that the scan's OCR renders as '6l' or '6t' (for example 'destru6lion', 'fa6l', 'jun6tion'). These have been expanded to 'destruction', 'fact' and 'junction' in the quotation; no other word has been altered.

Notes. Thirty-seven years later the organisation's own magazine told readers to ‘avoid the pyramid of Gizeh and its measurements’.
